Not Dead Yet (NDY) is a national disability rights group formed in 1996 to educate, organize and give voice to disability rights opposition to legalization of assisted suicide. NDY also opposes laws and policies that allow the involuntary withholding of life-sustaining medical treatment, such as medical “futility” policies giving healthcare providers the power to overrule a disabled person’s decision (or their surrogate’s) to continue treatment. Based in Rochester, New York, NDY publishes a blog at www.notdeadyet.org as well as writing articles for mainstream press, provides presentations on these issues at conferences and webinars, files “friend-of-the-court” briefs in legal cases, advocates on legislation and other public policies, and engages in non-violent direct action and protests. NDY is funded by donations and works with a small staff and a large network of disability rights advocates across the country.
