Anna Gichan (she/her) is a deaf/hoh NYC based dancer, choreographer, teaching artist and cofounder of Union|One a dual national dance collective based out of Monterrey Mexico and NYC. Anna received her BFA in Dance from Rutgers University Mason Gross School of the Arts and at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance. Anna has performed at The Cooper Hewitt Museum as part of their Bodystorming Access Interaction Lab Workshop, Dixon Place, Judson Memorial Church, Loews Jersey Theater, Newburgh Illuminated Dance Festival, Triskelion Arts, Roulette, Yi Gallery, and more. Her work has been presented at Gibney Dance Center Elevator Opening Ceremony, The Tank, Flux Factory's "Talk Back" and supported by the Brooklyn Arts Exchange Disabled Artist Space Grant. Anna is a teaching artist through RIOULT Dance Center and Artist in Education (AIE). She has had the opportunity to teach her artistic practice at Eyebeams Digital Day Camp, RIOULT Summer Camp, Flux Factory, and through a 20 day residency through AIE at a disabled school. Anna has a background in competitive gymnastics, contact improvisation, yoga, rock climbing and motorcycle riding. She uses movement to highlight the energetic beauty found in human connections with others and the self. Currently Anna is documenting her relationship between herself and Naja Gordon through a 12-month dance video series.
